Have you assessed and met your occupational health needs?
An assessment of risk can identify the main activities and situations likely to be harmful to the health of your employees so you can then decide how to meet these occupational health needs in your company.
Health surveillance is particularly needed for hazards which have no occupational exposure standards for judging whether the control measures are adequate. Occupational Health is a multidisciplinary activity aimed at:
- The protection and promotion of the health of workers by preventing and controlling occupational diseases and accidents and by eliminating occupational factors and conditions hazardous to health and safety at work;
- The development and promotion of healthy and safe work, work environments and work organisations;
- The promotion of the physical, mental and social well-being of workers and support their working capacity; and
- Enabling workers to conduct productive lives without impact from the environment in which they work.
GHS Health and Safety Consultants can help identify precautions workers need to take, to prevent or control exposure likely to harm your employees, ensure the control measures are properly used and maintained. We can advise on monitoring the exposure of workers, and where necessary, advise on health surveillance, as appropriate and inform, instruct and train employees about the risks and any necessary precautions.
